11/24/2007: LAC vs. NOH

These photos go out to my best friend Jana from New Orleans :). It's always a treat to watch my two favorite teams go against one another; Chris Paul from the Hornets is my favorite non-Clippers player; David West is such an underrated power forward, Peja Stojakovic can still shoot lights out, and Byron Scott is an excellent coach. What's not to like about this team? Plus the 2008 All-Star game is going to be in New Orleans...hmmm...decisions, decisions.

Okay JB, your team kicked mine tonight but there's still three more meetings between the two. The interesting thing is these two teams will most likely be fighting for the final Playoff spot in the west come April. Hornets drew first blood last night. Onto the photos...

For some strange reason, Chris Kaman always examines the basketball right before tip-off. He does this EVERY game!

Hornets' shooting guard Morris Peterson takes off for a lay-up:

The face and floor general of the Hornets: Chris Paul!

David West overpowers Tim Thomas:

Paul sees through all the holes in the defense then makes his move:

Check out Lynae's stylish hair during her performance:

Two Hornets fight for the loose ball:

Kaman shoots over three guys:

Bobby Jackson (left) started laughing right after Clipper Darrell shouted out, "Hey Bobby, I know you're UGLY!" Darrell is the biggest Clippers fan and he makes his presence felt at every Clippers game, and I do mean EVERY. Not sure what Stojakovic (right) is laughing about; probably how it's so easy for him to drain three balls all night long.

Timmy throwing it down??? I want to see more of this from Thomas.

Ruben Patterson works hard to protect the ball from the swarming Hornets:

Tyson Chandler shows his offensive game to Kaman:

Clippers fans are still waiting for rookie Al Thornton to blossom:

Q Ross has trouble keeping up with Paul along the baseline:

Mobley holds onto Butler during an inbound play:

Clippers starters celebrate after a three-point play by Mobley (I think):

Peja tries to get around Cuttino as Coach Dunleavy yells in the background:

Here's CP3 (Chris Paul #3) with a tear drop; I kinda wished his middle name was Paul and his last name started with an O so everyone can call him C-3PO :).

Hey, I didn'y know you're a Hornets fan. New Orleans is among my favorite teams too. BTW, I got a special Hornets Question for you:
What's that purple logo on the opposite side of the Jerry West NBA logo on the jerseys? It wasn't there last season. Do you think it may have something to do with New Orleans hosting the All-Star??

Anton, I think my friend Jana whose from NO can answer that for you :). But I'll butt in and say it's the Fleur-de-lis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleur-de-lis), a decorative symbol from France but is quite popular in New Orleans because of the French culture, i.e. Mardi Gras.

Their NFL team New Orleans Saints also have it on their uniforms (and helmets). I'm sure we'll see many more Fleur-de-lis at the All-Star game. Btw, I haven't forgotten about the stuff you sent me, I'll make a post about it sometime this week. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks for the info! I made a thorough query and it turned out it's inspired by the Fleur-de-lis, but it's actually called "Fleur de Bee". Like you said, it's in fact a logo connection with the city of New Orleans. This secondary logo is also a way of breaking the bad memory of the Hexagon "H"-logo that the Hornets used while in Oklahoma City. Most of the fans feel that the H-logo is a design of the devil. Many fans want the "Fleur de Bee" to become the primary logo and the Hornets might get something going next year, not 100% sure though.
BTW, a friend of mine sent me a big version of the logo and.. It's BEAUTIFUL!!!
